We are looking for extraordinary people to join our SwimExpert team, in return we will offer successful candidates funding to gain a full professional swimming teacher qualification after extensive training and continual assessment.

Training to be a teacher is available to people of all ages and all backgrounds. You will start your journey by having an informal chat with our team who will explain how the trainee programme works and answer any questions you might have.  They will ensure you are suited to the programme and that it’s right for you.  Once everyone’s happy we will agree a start date and you will begin by attending a number of sessions as a voluntary water assistant/helper.  This will give you a real flavour of what teaching is about before you commit and sign your employment contract and enrol on the training programme!

LEVEL ONE QUALIFICATION

The first thing we do is assign a mentor to help you in the first few weeks of your role as a Water Assistant.  At this stage you’ll be helping our qualified instructors, assist in classes and demonstrations, and learn how to deliver great customer service to our swimmers and their parents.   When you’re ready we will get you booked onto your first formal teaching course (a level one – teacher’s assistant qualification).  You can expect this to be within your first 3 months or so with us.

LEVEL TWO QUALIFICATION

As a qualified Level 1 teacher you will continue to assist in classes and will also take your own classes supervised by a level 2 teacher who is on hand to provide support and advice at all times.  You’ll gradually take on more responsibilities and help with some admin tasks such as progression reporting too.  Again, when we all agree you are ready, we will book you on to a level 2 (full teachers qualification) and help make sure you pass first time!

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Once you are fully qualified that’s just the start!  We employ you for at least a year post qualification (and often ongoing if its right for you) so that you can gain further experience and deliver your own lessons.  This can include private 1-2-1 lessons as well as the group lessons you have become familiar with.  This variety ensures you are constantly challenged as you experience more and learn to become the best teacher you can be.  Again, we provide full support throughout this period and help you make a great start in you.
